Landscapes of the Beni Snassen Mountains
Introduction to Landscapes of the Beni Snassen Mountains
The Beni Snassen Mountains are a small range geologically considered related to the Rif, though not connected. It is named for the Berber tribe that inhabits the region. The range has a fascinating mix of interesting topographic features, bird, plant, and insect life, and is a high point for any eco-tourist visiting Morocco. The human population is quite small and this gives the area a feeling of a zone apart from much of Morocco. The Zegzel Gorge area is spectacular, and includes caves and a magnificent aquifer.
